Finding Gratification in Our Uniqueness

I don’t know who said “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear". But while I was lying in bed this morning I said to myself “no that’s not right!”. We should be trying to make silk purses out of sows' ears because we have all the unique pieces of who we are, to fix the sow’s ear problem. Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was so beautiful in the way I think he was intending it, reminding us of what our Constitution guarantees. That each of us have certain inalienable rights and we had just fought a very costly Civil War to keep what that promises. But there is a passage in the speech that has always troubled me. “All men are created equal”. That can’t be! Because each of us are born differently never to be replicated again and in that difference we each have the chance to revel and grow in our own uniqueness and if you want to, you can change a Sow’s Ear into a Silk Purse.

See Ya,

Jack
