Press & kind words

“I was the kid who never got the pony I wanted for Christmas. And I was the kid who always dreamed of joining the rodeo and the barrel racers, their sequined costumes sparkling in the spotlights.

I put away those childhood dreams until last year, when I booked trips to the V6 Ranch for two horse-related vacations…”

“Not your typical Dude Ranch.
From riding great horses, learning skills from amazing fun cowboys and cowgirls, to goofing around with the family and the guests. The V6 is a blast! Arrive as a guest, leave as a friend.
Warning: This place is addicting!!”

V6 Ranch is a little slice of heaven. The best place to be to leave your busy world behind. You will not find nicer folks, better food, sweeter horses, or a more beautiful place to renew your soul!

Been coming for 10 years now & look forward to it every time!!!

“V6 Ranch is an amazing experience. The Dude Ranch Weekends are like being part of their family. The horses are great, the lodge accommodations are very comfortable, and the wranglers are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. This is not a nose to tail 1 hour ride place.  You will get an opportunity to ride for several hours on mountain trails and open fields, and see amazing scenic vistas. The food is excellent, and they have several good wine and beer selections with dinner. I go to V6 several times a year, and look forward to it every time.”

5 authentic california ranching experiences

“Make your home out on the range (for a few nights anyway). The V6 Ranch stretches across 20,000 acres of the Cholame Valley, about 30 miles northeast of Paso Robles…”

“From the minute I stepped into the cowboy side of life, I was smitten with V6. I have watched grandkids grow from rascally children to mature members of the business family, and witnessed the transition and hand-off of the ranch management from Jack and Zee to the capable generations that follow. Each visit, each year I have been welcomed in, as if I was family. I have made lifelong friends and cherished memories, with my sister V7 as my co pilot. It has been my honor and privilege to come to know the 3 generations of the Varian family and those that help them make magic happen.”

“Tom Seay visits the V6 Ranch in Parkfield, CA and rides this beautiful ranch with viewers. The V6 is a family owned and operated guest ranch with three generations of the Varian family working on the ranch. Guests can bring their own horses for scheduled ride events or ride V6 Ranch horses.”

“After my first Cowboy Academy at V6 Ranch, I was hooked. I immediately felt like I was more than a guest… like a family member. The staff goes out of their way to make the experience top notch. From the delicious food, to the horses and activities, I can help but keep coming back. My V6 Ranch time has increased to twice per year and I look forward to each visit!”

“Cattle rancher John Varian tells listeners how they can spend a couple days driving cattle in the Central Coast.”

“My first cattle drive with Jack and Zee was 14 years ago.  Everything came alive with ranch history stories, learning how to ride up/down hills, amazing food and camping out – the most amazing experience of my life.
Experienced trust of the horse beyond my wildest dreams, Jack said “lean back, give that horse his head, and enjoy the ride”.  Enjoyed rides for at least 14 years.  Met my new best friend there Slim (yes, we all had our ride names).  My knees can’t take the cattle drive anymore but still go on the wrangler ride every year.   V6 Ranch, Varian Family, V6 horses – the BEST…”

Six lieux pour découvrir la Californie côté ranches

(Six places to discover California ranches)

“Here, in the town of Parkfield (18 inhabitants), halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, three generations of cowboys run the family ranch and welcome visitors to their lodge with comfortable rooms and rustic decor…”

“I discovered my "Inner Cowboy" several years ago and the V6 Ranch was the perfect place for me to experience the cowboy ranch life. As I've gained skills, (riding, roping, herding) the wranglers have been patient, encouraging and good humored. What I love about the V6 Ranch is that it is a family, multigenerational run ranch, and the family is just terrific. Kinda inspirational really.”

“Oh how I look forward to my 2 visits per year at he magnificent V6 cattle ranch. The vistas are breathtaking, the ranch horses never disappoint.  The entire Varian family and all the wranglers make you feel like family. Not only do you get to play cowgirl/cowboy, gather and sort cattle, you get to experience some delicious meals. I leave each trip counting the days until my next visit.”

“Going to the V6 is like going home. The Varian family are more than just gracious hosts, they are family.

“If you have ever wanted to visit the most magical place on earth…skip Disney and visit the V6 Ranch in Parkfield California! Not only is the ranch land beautiful, the horses noble and so well trained, the wranglers always choked full of cowboy wisdom…but the Varian family…not to be matched. You will meet, first hand, the kindest, funniest, and smartest ranch family around. As holistic ranchers, their goal is to leave the land in its richest healthiest condition. You will learn cowboy traditions, from the experts, as they are meant to be taught. Year after year, I find my way back to the ranch…for one cowboy adventure or another…each time leaving with more laughs, horse and cow knowledge, friendship and longing for the next adventure to come around! There’s no place I’d rather spend my time…than at The V6.”
